The fairways and approaches received an application of Dolomitic Lime, that aids in adding calcium and balancing the soil pH. This is done based on annual soil test results. Rather than contract this operation out, we did it ourselves, in-house. It was a nice project for a rainy day. The golf course if far too wet to start aerifying. Most of the staff continued on bunker work.
I can't help but share this! My 11 year old, Anna, had super hero day at school where they wear a shirt or even dress up as their favorite hero. Well, she was Dad! Khakis, a collared shirt, a Highlands CC name tag and the Clemson cup I apparently use a lot in her eyes. Nothing like getting the day started like this! Before school started, Hilary brought her to my office because she was so excited she dressed up like me; she just had to show me!
Finally, despite the rain, we are working hard to get all of the tees and approaches topdressed with sand. This sand helps insulate the turfgrass crowns over the winter.
