Above, is an up close photo of the Passive capillary drainage "rope" we put under the approaches on #7 and #17. This rope, with its steel core, allows water to be absorbed and carried to a nearby 4" pipe.
It is pretty exciting to see the Apple Hill home being renovated. This home has a pretty important history in Highlands and Highlands CC, specifically. In 2002, Mrs. Calloway took me on a tour of the home and specifically pointed out the huge, 18" plus Hemlock logs that comprised the main part of the home. Those logs originally served as a Cherokee Indian trading post. I can only imagine that these were harvested from the property in the 1800's. I remember her even having some of the original nails that were used during construction. I am excited to see how this is restored and part of HCC history being brought back to life!
