CGCSA and Myer's Briggs Type Indicator Test

For a majority of my adult life, I have had an interest in personality dynamics and what makes people think, feel and act the way they do.  I learned quickly as a leader that no two people are the same and they respond differently to a specific management approach.  It fascinates me, quite frankly.  In 2009, I became a certified Myer's Briggs practitioner, thanks to HCC, through the American Management Association in Atlanta.  Since then, this has been an invaluable tool to help my staff understand why different employees excel at different types of jobs.  Furthermore, we learn how our fellow staff members gather information and make decisions.  These insights have led to a more cohesive team.  It teaches me how to communicate effectively to an individual team member by meeting their needs of understanding said communication.  Today, as a Board member of the CGCSA, I am administering this test on the staff in Liberty, SC.  I really enjoy this and makes the job of being a Superintendent extremely satisfying. Since the 1930's this has been the premier type indicator test across the world.  Personally, I am an ESTJ.  Each personality type has strengths and weaknesses and it is up to us to
manage those and use them to the benefit of HCC, something very few managers and leaders actually do.  I make it a point to assign job tasks that fit the employees personality type. For example, someone who sits on a rough mower all day long has to be an introvert. Period. Sure, an extrovert could do that job but they won't like it.  Its easy to expect our coworkers to be the same as us and simply adapt. Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way.
