Above, you can see the sand build up on several bunker faces. Because of this, we are going to strip the sod around the bunkers to be able to get the lip back to the proper level. This is a result of wind blowing sand and also golfers removing the sand with bunker shots. I was hoping to be able to avoid this step but there are areas where the bunker lip is 5-6" taller than it originally was. This is the right thing to do.
This also gives you a feel of how quickly a routine sand topdressing program can add to the ground elevation. When you see sprinkler heads recessed in the ground, it is because the surrounding areas was raised up by sand applications.
