Wednesday

This leaf season we have 2 new tools to pick leaves on the property.  One, it a new leaf vacuum itself.  Two, is a new leaf box that is sized to fit our Ford One-Ton truck, designed and built by the one and only, Paul Dalton. His ability, creativity and genius is second to none and we are incredibly lucky to have him here on staff!  The box has hinged sides and all for unloading.  In the next week or 2, it will be painted and ready to go.  As I've said time and time again, there isn't much this crew can't do; I am proud of the people I've surrounded myself with!

The rain last night and this morning didn't accumulate to a whole lot...perhaps 2/10" max.  Needless to say, carts will remain on fairways today.  The rain was timed nicely with our Calcitic Lime and sand topdressing applications yesterday afternoon.

Today, I am also treating 1/4 of the lake with an herbicide (Renovate 3) designed to eradicate aquatic weeds down to the root.  The chemical I've been spraying (Reward) is only labeled to burn back foliage, meaning it will return.  I take advantage of these rainy times when the irrigation system isn't in use.  I don't want to suck any aquatic herbicides into the irrigation pipes and onto the course.  This was the main challenge this past summer with as dry as it was.
