Lake

This week I sprayed aquatic herbicides in the lake to once again combat the Bladderwort infestation.  After initial success, the plant regenerated because I am only using products that burn back foliage rather than kill the plant at the root.  Once we get to a time when worrying about water restrictions isn't an issue, I will be able to use a product that will kill the entire plant, thus making this a non issue.  The combination of warm dry weather this summer, plus the stirring up of nutrients from the dredging last winter really created a perfect storm.  Next Thursday, I will state certified as an aquatic pesticide applicator.  In the coming years, this won't be an issue as I will complete control over the treatments of the lake.  Getting behind the eight ball is tough.
