Rather than waiting till spring we are hydroseeding several areas on the golf course using fine fescue seed. Fall seeding is superior to spring seeding because of two reasons. One, competition from broad-leaf weeds is far less. Second, spring time is when we apply our crabgrass preemergent. While this works to prevent crabgrass from germinating, it also prevents other desired grass species from germinating. Our focus today is banks and other underbrushed areas.
