After a full day of mowing, we have our fair share of equipment to clean.
It is important that grass clipping are filtered and collected. Allowing grass clippings to enter a water way is extremely bad. Why?
Grass clippings and even tree leaves contain nutrients (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium etc). You know it's wrong to dump a bag of fertilizer into pond or stream. Putting grass clippings into a pond is the same thing. This can lead to a major algae bloom and indirectly, a potential fish kill by reducing the dissolved oxygen content of the water.
All of our equipment is washed on this concrete pad, the water filtered and then released onto a dense grassy area where it is filtered naturally again before heading down stream. In total, the water is filtered 3 times before it is released.
This is just one more example of our commitment to the environment.
