As I mentioned before, I spent the last 2 days in Raleigh. A fellow superintendent from Durham and I in addition to a golf professional from Charlotte and a GM (representing CMAA) addressed about 100 members of the house and senate on the economic benefits golf provides to NC. Our information was based on a recent Golf 20/20 research project that we, the CGCSA, helped fund. I spent Thursday afternoon with our Lobbyist meeting with several senators and Speaker of the House, Thom Tillis. Tillis is running for US Senate. In the State of NC, golf is an annual $2.3 Billion business! South Carolina is even greater at about $4 billion!
