Hydroseed

As I mentioned in earlier posts we were forced to reseed many of our native areas.  What I thought was a tough winter on these mounded/exposed areas turned out to be something completely different...white grubs!  Typically this is an issue with turf in the late summer/fall.  However, unlike the rest of the golf course, these areas go untreated of all pesticides.  Therefore, overwintering grubs became active feeding on the roots.  We sprayed the native areas today with an insecticide to clean them up.  This in conjunction with hydroseeding, should lead to a full recovery of these areas in a few weeks.  Lesson learned.  I had 2 professors from Clemson University look at these areas during their visit yesterday.  It pays to stay connected!
