As you can see, we experienced a major irrigation blowout on the 12th hole yesterday afternoon. It washed away a lot of soil under the fairway, creating a challenge for us to repair. As pipe ages, this becomes more and more common.
We aerified the new PG sod this morning and hand brooming topdressing sand to fill the holes We will do this process 3-4 times, 2 weeks apart before the PG is opening for play in June. This gets the 'sod layer' out so the roots establish deep into the sand base root zone. We are currently mowing the new sod at .140".
