Golf Course Fertilizing

Today we are fertilizing the golf course wall to wall with a 21-0-0 fertilizer known as Ammonium Sulfate. This is a relatively inexpensive, quick release fertilizer that will kick the turf into gear for the spring. The sulfur in the fertilizer gives the turf a deep green color as well. In another week or two, we will be coming back and fertilizing the golf course with a slow release fertilizer designed to last the entire season known as Polyon. This will also contain a pre-emergent chemical for crabgrass.

Above, Jerry Dalton is fertilizing the soccer field at the Highlands School. The greenkeeping staff at HCC is responsible for maintaining the soccer field as well as the grounds at the Highlands Historical Society. The staff enjoys these community service projects.
