Fairway sand topdressing has many benefits. It smooths the surface, fills divots and over time, creates a dryer fairway by slowly building a sand cap over the heavy clay, native soils to enhance drainage and firmness. Due to the high cost of sand, we focus on our wetter fairways and landing areas at Highlands CC.
Over the next several weeks, rain, freeze/thaw action and drying will allow the sand to work its way into the turf canopy.
