Armyworms

This time of year it's common to see these egg clusters on flags on the putting greens.  These are the eggs of armyworms,  a species that isn't too common in the mountains except for extreme years like 2025.  An armyworm is the larval stage of a moth.  The larva can be very destructive to turf and the reason we treat the golf course wall to wall on a preventative basis.
