Last night, we experienced the worst bear damage to a putting green than ever before. The bear dug about 6 holes in the green, a couple over 1" deep. You can also see the extensive damage on the approach, where it tore the grass up in a larger area. It's a mystery what he is digging for. There are no "grubs" as people will often suggest, because all the playing surfaces on the golf course are treated preventatively. I have a call into the North Carolina Wildlife Commission to find out what else could be done to deter this bear from doing this. It is certainly frustrating to come to the Club everyday and find a green or two where holes are being dug,
