Heads-Up on Upcoming Maintenance Practices
I've been asked about what the plan is for upcoming maintenance. Here it is, through the fall:
August 14th (Monday) we will be stripping the sod off of the one tee on holes #2 and #17. New sod will be laid shortly thereafter and we'll stay off of those tees for a period of 2-3 weeks. The one tee markers will be placed with the two tees while the new sod establishes.
September 5th (Tuesday) the golf course will be closed. On that day, we will be using 1/4" hollow tines to vent greens and lightly topdress them. This disruption will last no more than 2-3 days before the greens are back in great shape. Also on this day, we'll be doing another round of fairway inner-seeding. This process causes very little disruption and once the fairways are mowed again, the slits created by the machine will close.
October 17th (Tuesday) we are tentatively planning to aerate our tees using large diameter hollow tines. This is nothing to be concerned about because obviously, ball roll isn't a factor on a tee.
November 1st (Wednesday) we will start aggressively verticutting the approaches on the golf course. This is not a major inconvenience and golfers simply play through when they reach us.
November 6th and 7th (Monday and Tuesday) we will be DryJect aerifying our greens two directions and the approaches, one direction.
The golf course closes for the season on Sunday, November 26th. At this point, we will commence all other forms of aeration to fairways, roughs etc. as well as starting our winter projects TBD.
I will be periodically reminding you of these dates as we get closer but if you have any questions about this or what to expect following any one of these programs, please feel free to give me a call (787-2778) or shoot me an email. Thank you!
