Above, workers repair the turf at the entrance of the maintenance path that connects #5 to #8.
Another load of sod was installed today, finishing all of the 2nd hole except for the bunkers. Once Ron Forse visits on Monday and Tuesday next week and paints out the bunker edges, Green-Tee Golf will finish the bunkers, getting them ready for the Better Billy Bunker liner and ultimately, sand.
On #5, we removed some Rhododendron opposite the cart path at the Highlands Tee. We seeded this area back in January and covered it with a wood-fiber matting material. After the last week, you can see seed is germinating! I can't recall a time where we've germinated seed in February in Highlands NC. The seed is a mix of fine fescues.
Finally, on #1, we are doing another project with the SOX erosion folks. We had some unforeseen damage to the pond bank next to #1 green that is making this project a necessity. This is a perfect solution for this site and next week, I'll be showing you the steps that are done to fix this pond bank.
