Monday

We are getting closer and closer to opening day and therefore,  we are starting to get some details on the golf course accomplished.  One such projects is having a few members of our team walk all the streams on the golf course and remove leaves, sticks and other unwanted debris, like we are doing on #1 below.

Another thing we are doing regularly now is scouting for Annual Bluegrass Weevil (ABW) adults.  The way we do that is random soap flushes on several of our fairways.  These insects overwinter as adults and once temperature rises in March, the adults begin their walk from close by wooded sites to the turf.  By pouring a soapy water mix (Lemon Joy is the most effective for water ever reason) over the turf, the solution works it's way into the thatch, irritating the skin of the insects.  This causes the insects to surface, where we can take a physical count.  If we start seeing more than 8-10 adults per square foot, we will treat the turf with an insecticide to target adults.  This starts an annual life cycle monitoring program that will last through September.
