Irrigation installation is well on its way down the 14th hole. Again, we lack #15, #16 and #17. In two weeks, this project will be wrapped up, allowing another two weeks to tie up all the loose ends, for which there are many.
This sod cutting machine has been put to use, allowing our contractor to move a little faster. When the surface was partially frozen, we weren't able to use this machine because the sod wouldn't bend and "roll up." We had to use a small manual sod cutter and set 2-3' long pieces of sod to the side. This machine will also "unroll" the sod when it needs to be put back into place.
It's not all moving smoothly. As I mentioned numerous times, digging around Highlands CC can be like working in a minefield. On #14 at 6:30PM, we hit a 2" town water line that no one knew existed. Fortunately, the Town of Highlands water department has been great working with us. Tomorrow, the Town's GIS coordinator will locate the direction of this pipe with ground penetration radar and record it on the town's water system mapping. This is another is example of a water line that was installed in the 1940's (estimate) by Highlands CC, when the Club itself, operated its own water system. When the water system was turned over to the Town circa 1980 during annexation, there were a number of water lines that weren't documented nor mapped. Fast forward to 2022, and we're still learning where some of those water lines are located.
