This is a letter written by golf course architect, Ron Prichard, to the USGA in 1998. You may recall that Ron was the golf course architect that completed the very first master plan for Highlands CC back in the mid 1990’s. To this day, I keep up with Ron and hear from him from time to time. Although Ron is currently retired, he renovated numerous Ross designs around the country and even designed his own golf course, TPC Southwind in Memphis, TN, where the St. Jude's Classic is held annually. I thought this letter brought up some interesting points about the direction of the game, as it relates to equipment.
