Wasps and Yellowjackets

It's that time of year when yellowjacks and other bees are in full effect and mad at the world.  Above is a yellow jacket nest above the wall in the Hudson House parking lot.  This was treated for the 3rd time this morning and is still active!  This nest is so large, it will take multiple applications.  You more than likely saw the wasp nest in my post yesterday from #14.  That was treated for a 2nd time this morning.  Please be careful on the golf course.  You're more likely to encounter yellow jacket nests in the ground on steep, south facing slopes that don't see a lot of activity.  Our tall native fine fescue areas are a prime location for said nests.  In fact, If you were to hit you ball into one of these areas, I think it's smart to let it be, especially if you have a bee sting allergy.  Finally, there is no possible way to treat the ground preventatively for these aggressive insects.  Therefore, we can only spray them as we find them.  If you happen to see one, please shoot me an email or call so we can take care of it.  Even better, if you can throw a golf tee in the vicinity of the nest, that makes it really easy for my staff to find once we are alerted about it.

In the meantime, I'm submitting the necessary paperwork to Greg, for a 2022 operations capital purchase, a flame thrower.  Please see the video below to get a feel of their effectiveness. Copy and paste the link and you'll be happy you did!
