Monday Update

As of this morning, the other two croquet lawns are being prepped for laser leveling and new sod.  For the next few weeks, please check with Brooklyn, Director of Recreation, about an agreement the Club has with Sky Valley CC if you are interested in playing croquet.  It is important we are able to accomplish what we need to, so all three lawns are available to the Strikers at large, later this spring.

My favorite tree on the entire property, a Kwanzan Cherry, is in full bloom on #4.  Unfortunately, this tree finishes flowering before anyone gets a chance to see it.

Greens mowing commenced this afternoon for the first time in 2021.  Below, the croquet lawn received its first haircut.

Below, the bunkers are edged and awaiting sand that will start arriving this afternoon.

The intense rain we received last Thursday, set us back a few days.  The 6.5" of rain washed out some recently laid sod as well as created a muddy environment to work in.  With only 2 weeks remaining until the golf course opens, we have no time to spare.

On #11 and #12, bentgrass sod arrived for the fairway.  Another load of bentgrass will come tomorrow morning.  This will finish off these two drainage projects.  This sod comes from a farm in Morganton, NC; on the other side of Asheville.

Below, on #11, you can see the boulder work that has been done in the creek to secure that banks that have been suffering from erosion for the last few years.

The following photos are different angles of #15.  We lack laying about 10 pallets of Kentucky Bluegrass to finish this area off.  Removing the silt fence above the bank and then preparing the bank and sodding it, was incredibly time consuming!  It looks great!  I can't get enough of the creek and how great it looks defined by turf on either side of it!
