Another load of sod was laid Friday, finishing many loose ends, including the drainage area on #9.
While our contractor continues bunker work, we are taking the old bunker sand and topdressing fairways and approaches with it. By Saturday afternoon, all of the bunkers will have had the sand removed from them. I recently changed gears and altered our plan in terms of bunkers. We are spending more time focused on diverting the surface flow of water around of bunkers rather than replacing the bunker liners. After the sand is removed, we are flushing the “Better Billy Bunker” liners and finding that they are draining just fine. Because of this, I determined there is no reason to spend more money to change out this material. When the project is complete, the bunkers will be good as new. All of the bunkers will be filled with new, ‘Tour Angle’ sand from Bulk Aggregate.
Above, we are sodding the new flattened walk path on the edge of the cart path on #5. This makes it easier for those walking the golf course to traverse the hillside and not have to walk on asphalt with soft spikes on, which can be slippery.
Finally, we started excavating a ditch that will be lined with river rock to catch water (sheet flow) and direct it further down Cobb Road rather than it running through the pine straw bed behind #3 green, and onto the golf course.
