Above: We removed the Kentucky Bluegrass sod from the perimeter of the practice green. We are eliminating 2/3 approach areas and reshaping the one that gets the most usage.
Above, croquet lawn demolition started this afternoon.
Above: On #14/15, we received a 30,000lb excavator rental and we started digging stumps this afternoon.
#9 fairway is always a challenging area in terms of drainage. The start of the fairway gets little sunlight and the fairway is covering in small depressions referred to as 'bird baths.' When it rains, these pockets hold water, which leads to the fairway taking a long time to dry out. In order to fix this, team HCC is removing about 15,000 square feet of sod, and stacking it on pallets. Once the sod is up, we will float a few inches of an 80:20 sand:peat mix over the topsoil to level out these depressions. Then, we'll put the sod back. Stay tuned in for more updates on this project!
Above: You can see how much sand is eveident even after the sod is removed on #9. This is a result of years of topdressing with sand.
