Early this week, I took part in a three person panel discussion with two other superintendents, one from Arizona and one from Connecticut. This GCSAA webinar was held to educate the 30 professionals selected to participate in the association's Excel Leadership Program. The meeting focused on the benefits of legislative lobbying efforts on a local, state and federal level. I was asked to speak on the dynamics of local level politics and then on a state level, based on my experience over the last 10 years serving as the Golf Industry's legislative Chairman in North and South Carolina. During those 10 years, we fought off a golf tax, water restrictions and COVID restrictions just to name a few. We represent the Carolinas Chapters of the Owners Group, CMAA, and PGA.
