Staff member Billy Brooks reeled in this 8 lb plus large-mouth bass on Club Lake Sunday afternoon! This is the largest fish I've seen come out of the lake in 20 years. Just think, 10 years ago, we had no bass in the lake. After warmer than normal summers that resulted in high water temperatures, low in dissolved oxygen, led to our stocked trout to become stressed. It was then, Billy and I, began introducing bass to the lake. A majority of the initial bass came from a secure, undisclosed location. In the last 2 years, we've found a source in Arkansas to stock bass fingerlings. Along with the bass, we are stocking a healthy supply of "junk fish" like shell-cracker, bluegills and even crappie that can be caught but also serve as a source of food for the bass. To date, there are several monsters in the lake. At the same time, we continue to add trout every year; to the tune of 4,000 fish per year.
