As you continue to play the golf course this spring, I wanted to point out a few things that are a work in progress. Above, on #14, the area continues to look a little raw while we wait on the fine fescues to establish. We have some great germination to date, and the whole area was fertilized today with a starter product. This rain has been very beneficial to the area. Also know that there are a few more trees and shrubs that will need to come out. Realistically, we looked at this as a 2-year project. Year one, was to remove the obvious and then in year 2, come back and fine tune it.
Like me, you may be getting tired of looking at this. I've called the town and they assure me this will be cleaned up in 2 weeks. This is the fiber optic line that it being installed around town. They stopped installation when the contractor ran out of materials. The materials were delivered and the workers will be back in action within a week or two and this is their priority. This is a 80-bundle fiber line, which means I can't simply roll it up like an extension cord.
Finally, on #13, in the fine fescue bed to the right of the cart path, we've applied a non selective herbicide to eliminate the briars and other invasive weeds that selective herbicides won't eradicate. We'll be making anther application and will then till up the soil and re-establish new grass. I apologize for the current unsightliness of it but it was necessary to get a clean look into the future.
