We upgraded our moisture meters this spring to a newer model. This is the tool the staff uses to determine if water is needed in a given area of a green or tee. Most turf problems result from too much water. In Highlands, we have very little control of that. When we do get into periods of drought, it's important to manage water with precision and keep the turf as dry as possible. The dryer the soil, the more oxygen is present and thus, the root system will stay healthier.
Above, you can see the creek widening project that took place last week on #6 and the results are excellent. In the coming week, I would also like to address the creek on #8, in front of the green.
