Great Old HCC Material

A local friend and fellow Commissioner, Donnie Calloway (as a child spent many days as a caddy at HCC) showed me these documents.  The first photo shows the tee sheet on June 2, 1973.  If you click on the image, enlarge it, the names are readable.

Below, fees for the 1972 Season

Above, a letter sent to Donnie C. from a member.  Pretty funny!

Finally a story from the 13th hole:  This one is hard to believe.  Below the walk bridge, was a galvanized pipe that constantly ran with natural spring water.  The water was crystal clear, cold and refreshing on warmer day.  This is well before the days of coronavirus; a steel ladle, attached to a small chain so no one could take it, was used by golfers, caddies and quite frankly, anyone passing by that was thirsty.  You simply filled the ladle with water and drank from it, then passed it on to the next person.  When your group was done, you just set it on the ground for the next 4-some.  It was a different time in these mountains!
