It's that time of year when Annual Bluegrass Weevil are active. In fact, they've been active for a month or more now and we scout for them every couple days. On little insect won't do a whole lot of damage but with you get as many as 25 of them per square feet, the damage can be tremendous. Soup flushes allow us to count the numbers because it causes them to come to the surface. Fortunately today, I counted about 6 in this 3-ft square area. An insecticide isn't warranted yet. We'll check multiple fairways with varying micro-climates to be certain the populations are below the threshold for damage.
