Town update:
The Highlands Board of Commissioners just passed a resolution that limits the following in addition to those on the previous post.
I was able to read the county's proposed resolution and it is disappointing with how little effort they are taking to protect citizens.
Effective immediately every person that comes to Highlands is required to quarantine for 14 days. If you have a college student returning or guest coming to stay with you, they must quarantine for 14 days in addition to all people living in the home.
All retail shops on main street and the business district are closed except for Reeve's, Bryson's etc. Other retail can choose to stay open but you must call in advance with specifically what your looking for and they are allowed to bring it to the curb.
The town will be reaching out to second homeowners and instructing them not to come here. It is not safe. It will not take much to overwhelm the hospital and if you have a life threatening scenario, the hospital may even be quarantined or unavailable leaving you with little options. The town feels firmly this isn't worth the risk. That sums up the action taken today. Shutting down the roads was discussed and isn't ruled out just yet. Failure to follow this laws results in a class 2 misdemeanor charge.
Hope that helps, I am copy and pasting sentences from the resolution so this serves as a summary. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to shoot me an email: bstiehler@highlandscountryclub.com
