The Professor of Turfgrass Science at Penn State University is on site at Highlands CC for the next 2 days. I bring Dr. John Kaminski to HCC every other year to consult, helping me with the development of the coming season’s fungicide program. It’s a great relationship that benefits me by bouncing ideas off of him. In the end, it saves the club money by helping me select the best products and proper application timing to achieve my objectives. At Highlands CC, our margin for error is so small (more like non-existent) because of the poor growing environment that many of our putting greens are exposed to (lack of sunlight). Any decline in turf quality simply can’t recover. We have to have all our bases covered for 8 months of the year The first order of business was a visit by Tim Kreger and Allen Knight from the Carolinas GCSA, who traveled to Highlands from Liberty SC and Columbia SC respectively, to record an episode of our podcast, Pullin’ Weeds.
