Dear Brian Stiehler Dear Members:
In response to the COVID-19 situation, all facilities of Highlands Country Club, Inc. will be closed March 17 and remain closed until further notice.
The health of our members and staff and their families are our paramount concern. To that end, the staff is following the recommended actions and guidelines from the World Health Organization, the CDC, Macon County Public Health officials and other medical agencies.
We want to make you aware that there is an individual on the Highlands Country Club campus, who is not a member, who has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. This individual came from New York to Asheville. After being tested at a hospital in Asheville, this individual came to Highlands late Friday to a relative’s home to self-isolate. Since being notified of the positive results of the test on Sunday afternoon, the individual has been under the direction of the Highlands-Cashiers Hospital and the Macon County Health Department and has been following the appropriate protocol of the CDC. This individual will remain in quarantine until two negative test results are obtained and then will be free to return home.
The individual has been totally cooperative with health authorities and at no time has had any physical contact with any person at Highlands Country Club nor used any of the club facilities. After the individual returns home, the health authorities will supervise the decontamination and sanitizing of the home.
Our staff continues to receive updates from various organizations regarding the COVID-19 virus and measures that should be taken. You can rest assured that it is our firm intention to do our utmost to protect our staff and families from the virus.
As we all are aware, this is a rapidly changing situation. We will stay on top of it and will keep you informed of any developments affecting our Club. Any questions or comments can be addressed to Greg Crawford at gcrawford@highlandscountryclub.com or 828-787-2782 (office) or 828-200-1021 (cell).
We apologize for any inconvenience. In the meantime, take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Sincerely,
Greg Crawford for the Highlands Board of Governors
