9 river birch and 3 large hemlocks were added around the pond on #6. This picture gives you a good idea how wet it is in Highlands!

Although this photo doesn't do it justice, this is a 6" caliper Oak with a 80" root-ball that was planted behind the 5th green for the reason of covering the power pole visual from the tee. Hopefully this tree serves us well for a long time.
Toxaway Concrete delivered a load of material to patch various operations areas where we repaired drainage issues and cavitating asphalt. Why are we using concrete you ask? One, it is the same price as asphalt if we finish it using 'in-house' labor. Second, as long as it is above freezing, there are no restrictions. Asphalt on the other hand, requires it to be above 50* ideally, and with our unpredictable spring weather combined with labor shortages in the area, I simply cannot rely on any local paving outfits anymore. It might be June before I could get someone here. Acid stains can then be used to turn the asphalt a dark color to where it blends in nicely.
