Late last fall- early winter, we embarked on project to improve the visibility on Dillard Rd, when pulling out from Arnold Rd. We went as far as to obtain a permit from the NCDOT for this work. The project was very successful and I personally am now able to pull out of there without having to use the mirror. It was impossible to get full visibility Of Dillard Road without cutting back into the parking lot and building a large retaining wall. We went as far as we could, while maintaining a slope that can support plant growth as well as leaving enough support for our parking lot above. The area was then seeded with different species of grass and wildflowers and then covered with straw matting. This matting is critical for erosion control and seed establishment. It can not be removed but as the season progresses, it will gradually disappear as the straw breaks down and the plant material matures. We seeded the area in December and currently have a lot of germination due to our mild winter. Our goal is to establish a dense stand of plants, the best form of erosion control. I didn’t have a drone at the time of the project, so giving you an idea of the scope of the project was difficult.
Last night, I flew my drone and took these photos in addition to some others I thought you might enjoy. If you have a request for a particular drone shot around the HCC campus, send me an email and I will get it done. Everyone has their favorite hole, or corner of the property and some may see it from a unique vantage point.

That is a police truck on Dillard Rd, in hot pursuit of something or someone. Glad it wasn't me and my drone.
Then this fire truck followed up the police car. I knew I was safe when I heard the fire engine.
