Today, we spent a few hours with a team of engineers from Jacobsen- Textron, testing out a new mower at the Club. This is very interesting to learn from these guys and even more valuable for them to receive feedback from their ultimate customers and users. At Highlands CC, we are able to test out equipment and put it through the ringer. Our steep slopes, dense turf and elevation are hard to come by. As elevation increases, engines loose power because the air is thinner. These engineers are designing engines that will work in all areas of the country. This company is based out of Augusta, GA. In a three hour drive, they can be at HCC, with a 4,000' elevation and cool season turf. This team consisted of several mechanical engineers and a PhD who specialized in hydraulic systems.
