This afternoon, the NCDOT held a meeting for elected officials in Highlands to show plans for the work/study that's been done on Dillard Road. As someone with a vested interest in Highlands CC, this is something you may want to pay attention to.
You can see above, the land acquisition would occur in 2025 and construction is scheduled for 2027. Understand that this isn't approved yet, but is one of many projects in DOT's hopper. It could all happen or portions of the project could occur.
Here is what you should understand at this point:
1. There is a plan to incorporate a sidewalk that will run from Main Street to the Club entrance, Happoldt Dr. However, it stops at Happoldt Dr. The sidewalk will not continue past Happoldt Dr. The sidewalk will be located on the Clubhouse side of Dillard Road.
2. Proposed right of way lines are somewhat concerning at this point because they include part #18 green, a corner of one croquet lawn and even a portion of the PG.
3. There is also a plan for intersection re-alignment of South Cobb Road and Hudson Road that will impact residential land along those two roads. It would also affect the placement of the rock pillars on those roads.
