Antique Equipment


The above unit is why you don't see fairways with striped mowing patterns in early golf course photos.  A machine this large simply couldn't be turned around easily at the end of each mowing pass.  The operator mowed big loops resulting in the light/dark mowing pattern.  This unit replaced horse drawn gang unit of the past.  It wasn't until the 1980's when mowing stripes was actually possible due to hydraulically driven mowing reels.
