Last week, this photo was taken on the 7th green by Mr. Spencer. Immediately following an afternoon shower, the sun came out. When the flag was removed from the hole, the "shadow" of the flagstick and flag, never disappeared. What is the cause of this?
My best guess: the sun dried out the surface of the green in full sun. However, the area shaded by the flagstick did not dry at the same speed as the turf surrounding it. Basically, moisture on the turfgrass leaves caused the "shadow" to remain on the green.
