I'm fortunate to be able to spend a good portion of the week with my family in Orlando at the 2017 Golf Industry Show. We drove to Florida on Saturday, and I started the week with a round of golf with Mr. Davis at CC of Orlando; a wonderful Ross course. Monday, I had lunch with the Editors of Superintendent Magazine, a national publication in which I sit on their editorial review committee, something I was asked to serve on since 2013. Monday afternoon was a great educational session that I signed up for. Today, I'm able to enjoy the day with the family. Finally, Wednesday, I'll be spending the day at the trade show, where I have several meetings set up with colleagues. Mr Davis is also going to spend a portion of the day with me, and will be present when I accept my award for 'best blog' tomorrow at 3pm. Thursday, it's back to Highlands. The best part of participating in conferences like this is the perspective it gives me and the appreciation I'll always have for Highlands CC. Of course, the networking and education opportunities are second to none. However, getting out of town for a few days and talking to my peers always energizes me when I return. HCC is a rare success story in an industry that has suffered some rough years as of late. The committed membership and staff that we have at HCC is remarkable and it's an honor to be a part of it. If you are an HCC member reading this, thank you for the investment you make in my continuing education and professional development. It makes my job most rewarding.
My daughter, Anna, has the world in her hands!
