Paul Dalton, Equipment Manager

Congratulations to HCC Equipment Manager, Paul Dalton, who was recently elected to serve on the Board of Directors of his professional association, TETAC.  The golf course equipment manager is a difficult position to fill because it requires someone to be very specialized in a specific subject, yet have a broad understanding of many other disciplines in the field of mechanics.  For example, the folks need to understand not only small engines, but welding, diesel engines and ever increasing computer components etc..  With stricter EPA guidelines and increasing golfer expectations, the job is becoming more and more critical.  At the same time, universities like Lake City Community College (FL) closed its doors ever since the economic crash of 2008.  Therefore, there really is no formal training students can get to pursue a career as a golf course mechanic.  Organizations like TETAC to a great job of providing education opportunities for equipment techs.  It's great to have Paul on our team and TETAC will benefit from his expertise!
