The croquet lawns were vented this morning and sand topdressed in an effort to get additional oxygen into the rootzone. When golf greens are sodded like these were, a 'layer' of organic material is put down immediately that needs to be removed. I've been very conservative on the aerification of the lawns so members can enjoy them this summer. However, later this fall, we will need to be more aggressive in order to insure the long term health of the lawns. I will be getting more specifics out on the plans in the coming week.
