Last spring, I reported on a fungicide product that became contaminated with a herbicide. I know two colleagues who applied this product, one who was forced to rebuild his greens afterwards. As you can see, the results were mixed. The course that rebuilt greens was a public facility in North Carolina that lost revenue during that time. Another good friend who had issues was in the metropolitan New York area. In a business that has enough challenges, we certainly don't need the help of chemical companies who can't properly mix chemicals or keep mixing facilities separate. Despite the undisclosed settlement, there isn't enough money to make up for stress, sleepless nights and heartache those guys experienced! Being a Superintendent is so much more than just a job...in fact, it is anything but. The passion many of us have for it make it a lifestyle choice and the turf health and quality at any given time is a directly affects our mood and feelings! I love it and wouldn't want it any other way.
