Poa annua is an annual grass that seeds in the spring, and germinates in the fall. Perennial plants usually rely on other vegetative means to reproduce. For example, think about hostas or daylillies that can be divided. A hosta does produce a flower that will turn to seed if pollinated but this isn't its primary reproductive preference.
