Weekly teaching facility update by Ken Mattis, PGA

Progress has resumed after a few weeks of bad weather.  The exterior still needs fixtures and paint, but is otherwise finished.  I am in the process of picking out furniture for the outside sitting area.  We believe that this area will be a very appealing spot for members to congregate.  With this sitting area being shaded for most of the day, it will offer a cool, quiet spot to relax.

The interior walls are going up.  The crew has finished with the drywall on the ceiling and is now putting up the pine, tongue & groove wall boards.  Before they put up the boards they have to paint both the tongue edge and the groove edge of the boards.  By doing this, the boards will not show any bare wood when they expand and contract with the weather.  This is just one example of the attention to detail this crew has shown throughout this project.  Thank you to Bill Futral, General Contractor, and his crew for paying attention to the details.

The picture below shows a wall we built at the front of the teaching area to hide the enclosure for the garage door.  With the opening of the door at 16 feet wide by 11 feet tall, the garage door will be quite large.  This wall will not only hide the garage door casing, it also provides the necessary support for the hitting net that will stretch across the front of the teaching area for use when the door is closed.
