We are planting 20 nice trees on the 17th hole today. This is to reforest the bog area about 150 yards from the green, right of the cart path. Much of the plant material in this area was dead, a result of water backing up on the root system. I selected water-tolerant trees to replace them. In a few years, I hope this area is once again sealed off from view.
The trees are about 10' in height. Anything larger would have required a larger root ball and been extremely difficult to move down into this hole.
You can see the amount of water we are dealing with! After the holes are dug, they immediately fill with water.
The Bald Cypress is an interesting specimen. In the summer, it resembles a Hemlock. However, it looses its needles like any deciduous tree.
