Thursday

Above, we pulled the "crow's nest" off the top of the #18 ladies tee rain shed this morning.  It is being thoroughly cleaned and repainted.  It will be back up late this afternoon.

The staff prepped all of our sod areas this morning in preparation for sod that will be delivered Friday morning.  I am looking forward to seeing these new chipping approaches wrapped up around the practice green.

Matthew and Kyle are continuing on the daunting task of grinding stumps all across the course.  We are making sure we leave nothing in view.  Many of these stumps are those far off the course from trees that have fallen years ago.

Jerry just finished verticutting the 5th fairway.  Note the 2 stumps on the right hand side of this photo.  These 2 white pines were removed a few weeks ago.  This is an example of the overgrowth of trees at HCC.  Golfers are blocked out from their second shot which was not the intention of Donald Ross.  This is why it is so important to have an aggressive, well funded tree management plan in place.  There are a lot of areas on the golf course, just like this, that need addressed.

This bed, adjacent the 15th ladies tee, was reworked to reduce the emptiness of the bed.  Tomorrow, we will be sodding the area that is prepped in this photo.
