Weather data

This morning we added up our records of weather data for 2014.  To date (including snow) we've had 64" of rain.  Our annual average is typically 96" of rain making Highlands a temperate rain forest.  Of course, we essentially have 2 more months to go but it looks like we will be well under for the year.  I adjust snowfall using the assumption 1" rain = 10" snow or vice versa.

64" of rain seems like a severe drought!  However, consider the following cities average rainfall totals:

Atlanta          49"
Birmingham 53"
Orlando        51"
Miami           62"
Chicago        37"
Dallas           37"
Philadelphia 42"
San Diego    10"

What is considered a drought in our area would be monsoon season in others!
