It's a beautiful frosty morning at Highlands CC at 27*! The golf course will be closed until 12 noon.
So what exactly is frost and why do we stay off of turf when it's present? Frost is essentially frozen dew. When it gets cold enough, the water inside the turf plant freezes as well. Remember, plants are 90% water. When we walk on frozen turf, the individual plant cells rupture and the turf will die.
The typical 4-some will take about 800 steps on every green. Think of the amount of dead footprints if golf was permitted during frosty conditions!
