Leaves

There is no question that fall is the most spectacular time in Highlands. That said, leaves are a huge task for the staff. With so many trees in close proximity of playing surfaces, this can be a challenging time of year. Every single morning, our tractor mounted blower goes out and cleans up fairways and roughs.  An army of staff blows tees, bunkers and greens prior to mowing. Even in the afternoons, I will dedicate 2 staff members to keep greens clean ahead of play. Then, there are days like today when blowing leaves is simply a loosing battle.  When this is the case, rather than waste a tremendous amount of man hours in labor and waste a lot of fuel, we will call it until the wind dies down. Your patience is appreciated on days like today. Please know we are trying our best but there are days when leaf cleanup just doesn't work!
